[glow=green,2,300]Ansel[/glow]
I stepped on the flourescent green grass. The delightful filly, Nadie, had come with me to the beautiful river on which lands I grew up. The water that flows in the river bed is barely blue. It is clear like a crystal. It makes a musical sound as it moves. Trees are a trim around the river. They set about twenty feet away from the river banks. They have young leaves on their spring branches. Above the river is a baby blue sky. A few fluffy clouds sculpt the sky.
I stop on the edge of the glowing river. I look at Nadie. My heart is prideful in the fact that I grew up next to this large river. I remember all of my foalhood. I can see myself running with one of the other foals. I remember my mother scolding me for doing any wrong thing. I remember when I was a two year old and I found my first crush.
I look around for any other horses. I do not see any others here. This causes my heart to drop a little bit. I shake off the feeling. I will not let her absence bother me. She has probably just moved on to a new home, a new family.
"Isn't this a glorious place," I ask Nadie softly. I smile to her.

Nadie's mouth was wide open, gaping at the beautiful blue waterfall. The gentle splash sounded like music, music she had never heard before but it was still beautiful. She could feel the tiny sprays of water splashing against her spotted coat as it crashed down into the river. "It's...It's beautiful." She only just managed to get the words out. Forcing her eyes away from the scene she gazed into Ansel's eyes. "You grew up here?" she asked, shocked by how lucky he was to have been here since he was a foal.

I feel a deep sense of pride that Nadie finds this area so amazing. "Yeah," I say softly to her. I watch a light spray of water stain her coat a deeper gray color. The spray sprinkles my nose as I reach it towards Nadie. "It is magical isn't it," I ask. I look at the river. It sparkles and gleams. It is known to draw a creature to it. When I said magical I wasn't saying it as a simile, I meant magical.
A golden colored fish swam beneath the surface near the bank. I lowered my nose to the water just above the fish. It didn't start away like a fish in any other river would. Here the fish were nearly domesticated.

"Yes," she agreed. "This place definitely feels magical." She could feel it tickling every hair on her half-wet half-dry hide. She watched him dip his nose in the water where the golden fish swam happily and completely unaware of the large mammal hovering over him. "So... tell me more about your life when you were only a foal. I am curious to know." She wanted to know more. Nadie had a thirst for knowledge and usually wanted to know about everything. That was always the way she had been.

I brought my head back to level with hers. Aw foal-hood, such wonderful years. I would not rather talk about anything else.
"Well as I mentioned before, this is where I was born. My mother had kept me separate from the herd for the first week, so that I might gain a feel for my body. The first thing she did when she brought me to the herd was introduce me to my father. He was the most outstanding creature that had and has ever befallen my eyes," I pause remembering, He wouldn't become a major part of my life until later. My mother however was always important. She kept me by her side everyday of my first year. She taught me everything about being a horse. After being a yearling my father started becoming more important in my life. He started teaching me how to be a leader. I was no good at leading. I am a natural born follower. My father saw that and changed my training into a more protection training type. I was more suited for this. I became good at knowing how and from what to protect the herd. He also taught me that I am always to respect and serve our light king. Sadly, I have never met our king. Anyway, my second year was boring. It was just more training, more protecting. During my third year, my father was deceased."
I smile softly at Nadie. "Is that all you want to know of me," I ask.

"Wow..." she breathed, astonished at his exciting foal-hood. He talked like he could talk for hours about this time of his life but tried to cut it short so not to bore her but Nadie could also listen for hours. She was more of a listener than a talker.
"So... you grew up here with your family herd and your father taught you to protect an stuff... wow..." Nadie wished she had a life similar to that.

I nodded my finely shaped head. "Yes," I say lightly, "I find it a wonder sometimes at the luck bestowed upon me." I let the entire past I just revealed run through my head as if a movie. I smiled. Then I became curious. "What about your foal-hood," I ask, "How did you grow up?" I wait patiently for her to answer me.

Nadie tossed her speckled mane. "Well... it's the the most exciting story ever," she said, her face turning into an expression of deep thought as she tried to remember her foal-hood. "Actually, it's a little boring now I think about it but maybe all the good stuff comes later in life as I grow up. I was born into a small herd - well, when I say small I mean just me, my mother and my father. I got to spend lots of time with them as I was the only foal. My mother taught me everything I needed to know about the wild. By the age of three months old I knew what almost every creatures footprint looked like. My father taught me the way horses thought, acted and the rules they had to follow."
Nadie watched Ansel to see the expression on his face. She half-expected it to be a little bored - her life wasn't that exciting, was it?

I listened to her talk. Her voice was smooth as she talked. I was interested in her life story. I smiled to her. I was impressed with her parents. I didn't learn survival until I was a at least three years of age. She, however, knew this before she was a year. My ears were pricked forward, listening to her words. "Astonishing," I whispered not wanting to disturb her talking. I quickly bit my lip to stop any more words that might spew from my velvet lips.

Nadie felt a little confused when Ansel seemed intruged by her life story. Surely it wasn't that interesting. She shook her head toget rid of the thought, her speckled mane catching off the light that reflected in the river. Quickly wanting to change the subject, she turned her head towards the beautiful flowing waterfall. "Can we jump in?" she asked, feeling the longing to swim in the freezing cold water.

I glanced at the gleaming h2o that flows near to us. It seems inviting. "I do not know why we shouldn't be able to," I say to Nadie. I edge close to the water. I put one chocolate rimmed hoof into the river. It pulls at my foot but it isn't as cold as it would seem. It is actually more of a lukewarm feeling. I retrieved my foot and backed a set. I then moved speedingly towards the river. I raised my front feet and pushed away from the ground with my back legs. I fly in the air. For a moment I hover above the water. Then in a second I drop and splash into it. I swim to stay afloat and look at Nadie.

Nadie laughed at the large spray of water that came in her direction, soaking her to the skin. She wasn't that bothered seeing as she was about to get wet anyway. Taking a few steps back, she galloped the short distance and leaped gracefully in beside Ansel, getting swallowed by the mass of water that greeted her. The sudden warmness tickled her whole body as she welcomed it. She thought it was cold before she had jumped in so the strange temperature was unusual.
She bobbed to the surface, tossed her soaken forelock fromher large brown eyes and looked at Ansel. She laughed when she saw his mane was sticking up all over the place. The golden fish the stallion had touched was long gone, obviously suprised at the visitors who had just taken over his river. Nadie felt the small current tugging at her legs as she swam closer to Ansel.

I felt the nearness of Nadie to my water soaked body. Her splash had left my eyes closed. I had closed them to protect them from the water that may sting them. Now that the shower of warm river was back where it belonged, flowing endlessly, I opened my eyes. I smiled as my eyes caught sight of Nadie. Her coat was almost translucent showing her pink skin. Only her black spots kept their color. I was happy here in my homeland. I started a slow swim with the current that pulled on me. I looked to see if my speckled friend was following.

Nadie shook her mane wildly, spraying water in all directions before pulling her legs back and forth into a kind of swim as she followed Ansel. The river slapped quietly against her skin as she moved. There was nothing more better than warm water hugging your sides and in this case it made Nadie feel better as though all her worries had flown over her.
The mare decided to pull herself away fromAnsel to go and exploe the waterfall that splashed violently against the water's surface - it was so beautiful. She could feel the current tugging on her more but she kept moving, hoping Ansel would follow.

I swam slowly. Nadie had, as I hoped, followed me. Serenity overflowed me. I looked at her. She had made a small mission towards the waterfall. I followed her in my slow paced swim. The noise from the water striking water was not as loud as one might think. Conversation would have to made an octave louder, but nothing more. The water that flowed away from the falls was a stronger current and I had to work harder to stay in that direction. Soon we were near the spraying water. The water that hit the river bounced back at us.

Nadie felt the sudden urge to see what was on the other side of the curtain of water - it had always been one of the things Nadie wanted to do before she died. Whatever was behind the waterfall could be like some parellel world ore something amazing which she had to discover. Braving the danger behind it, Nadie held her breath, pushed her body deep under the water and began to swim straight under the force of the water hitting water. It wasn't as bad as she expected - actually it was fine. The current swirled around her but did not affect her in any way at all - it felt magical.
She bobbed to the surface and gasped for breath. The mare suddenly realised she had left Ansel behind the curtain, probably worrying about where she was. Nadie let out a happy neigh to let him know she was safe. Water droplets made her large brown eyes sting.

I watched Nadie swim below the surface. I had lost sight of her when she reached the down pour of water that made up to water fall. When I heard her neigh I knew she was alright. I smiled. I swam towards the waterfall's curtain. I didn't swim under the surface, like Nadie. Instead, I swam through it. It pushed on my head and back, but I was able to get through with air still in my lungs.
I blinked away the water that was trying to make a layer over my eyes. I saw Nadie. I smiled at her. "That was fun," I said. I turned my head to look at the back side of the waterfall.

Over the roar of the waterfall, Nadie could just meak out Ansel's words. The speckled mare giggled slightly before sending another spray of water in Ansel's direction. She turned her back on the curtain of water to find herself staring at a huge open cave that was - unlike most caves - light inside where the sun reflected off the water and into the cave's mouth.
Nadie pulled her legs through the water, trying to make herself move towards the cave. As she reached the edge of a low platform that made it easy for both horses to access the cave, the mare heaved herself out of the water that tried to pull her back down. On the platform, she turned to face Ansel, shaking herself free of the water that hung to her coat and dripped of her body.

I closed my eyes in anticipation of the water that Nadie sent my way. The spray touched my face. I opened my eyes and smiled at her. She was a playful creature and I admired that. I watched her move towards the cave that my eyes took in. It was exsquisite. My smile widened.
Nadie stepped up onto the ledge. She shook her coat. I closed my eyes instinctively against the new spray that she sent towards me. I swam towards the ledge where she now stood. I placed one of my hooves up onto the ledge, then the other. I pushed myself up to join Nadie. I shook, a mimic of her only a moment earlier.

Nadie laughed and nudged Ansel gently at the shower of water that dotted her already soaked coat. She turned to look at the entrance of the enormous cave that stood before them. "Come on," she said eagerly, prancing forward to the entrance - she wanted to know where it would lead them. How many other horses had walked through the exact space that they were walking through now? "Have you been here before?" she asked Ansel, turning her head slightly to get a better view of him.
