The untimely flow of water from the heavens soaked my dark coat. It stung where it struck my wounded leg. I turned my head to watch Autumn walk around me. Her words stung with the dawning truth. I had nothing left. "You are correct," I said in a hoarse whisper. My body was giving in to weakness. It shuddered in exhuastion. Somehow I managed to remain standing. I straggered a step forward. I moaned in pain.

I stopped circling the mare and glared at her. Was she really agreeing with me? "I am always correct." I said quietly. I looked hard at the wench, she looked as though she would fall with tiredness any minute. I knew what she felt, for I too become tired by the minute. What kept me standing was the sharp pain of rain falling on my wounds. The rain stung, yet I held back the look of pain, I wanted to look as though it did not bother me.
I heard a soft moan from the mare as she step. I was impressed by the mare, for her body screamed for her to rest yet still she stands. She was strong I could tell, and for that I would have to spare her life for this time. I looked around for somthing, anything. In the distance about 50 yards was a small tree. A tree that could hold shelter for one horse.
Giving a small sigh I moved over to the hurt mare and leanded against her, hoping she could walk with my support. Slowly I put one hoof infront of the other, taking slow steps. "Your lucky. I rarly do this." I hissed at her in a low voice.

Confusion filled me. Why would this brute mare, who has shown obvious want for my death, now helping me? I started to shake my head, but all that it did for me was to make my eyesight blur. I grunted as I leaned my weight towards the mare. With my weight lighter for my legs to hold, my mind rewound the last few moments. I almost laughed. Lucky? "You're wrong," I said to the mare, "If I was lucky, then I wouldn't have happened apon this place while you were her."
